How to do Light Graffiti with style
Light graffiti is basically graffiti but painted with light and a camera. You’ve all seen it before but here is a quick reminder what I am talking about:
Like normal, “guerilla” graffiti you can only do it at night (for different reasons) and while I really love traditional graffiti this is beautiful because of the creative potential it has without being destructive.
How do I do that?
You only need a few things. Most important is a camera with manual exposure settings, a tripod to stabilize the camera and some kind of light. The hard part is, that you can’t see what you’ve already done so you have to learn specific movements to do it. You can also trace an object with light. It is easier because you just have to accentuate the lines in the object you want to be seen. This technique is quite common in automobile advertising. See this for example:
You said something about style!
I did, sorry for the rambling part above. You might think that moving akwardly with a light to do something that you can’t see right there isn’t cool but behold the main purpose of this post:
You guessed right this is a LED light modeled after a traditional spraycan! Cool, isn’t it? :) You can change colors and vary the amount of light coming out of it and you will look cool doing it! (promise at least he does)
For more pictures and information go to designboom.com which is also my beloved source for this great invention.
Try it yourself!
Did you try light graffiti yourself? Why don’t you tell me in the comments. You can also leave a link if you want to get more exposure for your light graffiti photographs.
